Information On Home School In Tennessee

For home school in Tennessee, parents have two options in letting their child attend homeschool– one is for church-related home schools and the other is for independent home schools.

A church-related home school in Tennessee is an educational facility that is operated under parochial, denominational or other valid church organizations that have passed the standards of academic accreditation or membership in other school associations. Home schools in Tennessee allow parents to register their children with church-related schools to finish grades K-12.

On the other hand, an independent home school in Tennessee indicates that a parent or other legal guardian can conduct home schooling of their own child, even if it is not church-related. However, the parents should submit a letter of intent, stating he or she will manage their own independent homeschool. This letter should be given to your state’s superintendent or local school system before the start of a school year.

Be aware that regardless of what kind of home school in Tennessee you choose, the state will not give the students certifications or diplomas after completing a curriculum. Check with your local school system to ensure all paperwork is done legally for your child to be home schooled.
